A Historic Day on Capitol Hill

Dear Friend,

Yesterday marked a truly historic day for the fraternity and sorority community.

For the first time in generations, a national fraternity leader took the witness table before Congress. Jud Horras, President & CEO of the North American Interfraternity Conference (NIC) and FSPAC Board Member, delivered powerful testimony before the House Education and Workforce Committee’s Subcommittee on Higher Education and Workforce Development—elevating the voice of our community at the highest level.

Jud spoke with clarity and conviction about:

► The importance of freedom of association on college campuses

► The real and growing challenges facing young men today

► The proven, positive impact fraternities have in building leadership, accountability, and belonging

He also urged Congress to advance the Freedom of Association in Higher Education Act, critical legislation to protect the rights of student organizations and ensure fair treatment on campus.

This wasn’t just a moment—it was momentum.

BREAKING: Following the subcommittee hearing, Subcommittee Ranking Member Alma Adams (D-NC/Alpha Kappa Alpha) became a co-sponsor of the Freedom of Association in Higher Education Act. In addition, Rep. Randy Fine (R-FL), who is also on the subcommittee and attended yesterday’s hearing, also signed on to cosponsor the bill after the hearing yesterday. These two immediate co-sponsorships show the powerful impact Jud’s testimony had on the Subcommittee yesterday.

Moments like this don’t happen by accident. They are the result of years of relationship-building, advocacy, and investment. Moments like this send a clear message: our voice matters, and it is being heard.

But here’s the reality:

We cannot afford to lose this momentum.

Right now, FSPAC is facing one of the most challenging fundraising periods in recent memory. Even as our impact grows and our voice strengthens on Capitol Hill, our resources are stretched thin. That is a dangerous place to be at a time like this. Not only do we want to get this Bill signed into law – we have other priorities we need advanced, like safe housing and more.

So today, we are again asking—plain and simple:

Step up. Give now. Help us capitalize on this moment.

If you believe in protecting the fraternity and sorority experience…
If you believe in defending the rights of students to associate and lead…
If you believe this historic moment must turn into lasting impact…

Then we need you with us—today.

This is not the time to wait. This is the moment to act.

Thank you for standing with us and for helping ensure that what happened yesterday is just the beginning.

With urgency and gratitude,

Steve Blair
