What Drives Me to Protect Greek Life

Over the past decade, I’ve dedicated a significant portion of my volunteer time standing up and fighting for the rights of our fraternities and sororities.

From my tenure as president of my fraternity to serving as chair of the North American Interfraternity Conference’s Board, and now as the 2024 president of FSPAC, I’ve committed my time, resources, and skills to preserving the invaluable experiences our organizations offer.

As we stand on the precipice of a crucial moment, it’s imperative that we continue our fight for the protection and advancement of the Greek experience on campuses and in Congress. I’m driven by a sense of responsibility to ensure that future generations have the opportunity to benefit from the rich experiences we’ve enjoyed.

With each passing year, our efforts yield progress.

Through bipartisan advocacy efforts, we’ve educated lawmakers and secured incremental victories, inching closer to legislation that will afford our organizations the same rights and protections as other student groups, including university sports team, band, or general independent student organizations.

Research in higher education consistently demonstrates the profound impact of fraternity and sorority experiences. These organizations provide a sense of belonging, foster leadership skills, facilitate networking opportunities, and forge lifelong friendships, contributing to the development of well-adjusted individuals.

We have proven that our work is powerful in the service to others, in supporting our local communities and raising people up is second to none on our campuses. Our collective service efforts have left an indelible mark, showcasing the unparalleled dedication of our members to making a positive difference!

Yet, despite our strength in numbers – with over 10 million members – only 1,500, a small fraction of alumni, actively engage in our advocacy efforts. As FSPAC’s president, I’m committed to mobilizing more alumni to safeguard the future of the Greek experience.

Now is the time to bolster our efforts.

Financial support is crucial to backing candidates who champion our cause and influencing legislative outcomes. By electing officials who prioritize protecting freedom of association, combating hazing, and ensuring affordable, safe housing, we can safeguard the future of Greek life.

I urge you to contribute to our cause like never before. Your support, whether large or small, will make a tangible difference in our advocacy efforts.

  1. Join me today and make a personal donation of $5,000, $2,500, $1,000, $500, $100, or whatever amount you are comfortable giving.
  2. Forward this email to five to 10 of your fraternity brothers or sorority sisters who benefitted from their student experience and ask them to join you and us in supporting our cause.

The urgency of this moment cannot be overstated.

Together, we can rise above the political noise of these unprecedented times to amplify our voices and demonstrate the power of our movement. Your support will not only shape the future of Greek life but also underscore the invaluable contributions our community makes to society.

Thank you for considering this call to action. Your involvement is vital to our success.

Sincerely,
Michael Greenberg, ΣΧ
FSPAC President
